Spicy Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti and meatballs are always a classic favourite for many countries. Spaghetti is one of the most versatile carbohydrate, and then added to that is your meatballs, your source of protein which will complete the dish. In addition to that, if its a case where you prefer a heavier meal, you could add some boiled or baked potatoes, vegetables or even rice.

Another easy recipe which is not only delicious, but it will also add value to your diet.



4-6 Servings

1 ½ lbs minced beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg, beaten
sweet and sour sauce
¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp rosemary
1 clove garlic, minced
½ tsp ground cumin
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp thyme leaves (gives a nice flavour)
1 small onion, finely chopped
salt and pepper to taste


Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix minced beef, onions, breadcrumbs, rosemary, garlic, cumin, thyme leaves, parsley, egg, salt and pepper.

Step 2: Form into balls.

Step 3: Heat oil in large frying pan and brown meatballs.

Step 4: Add meatballs to simmering sauce and let simmer until cooked. In the meantime cook spaghetti. Drain and let cool when done.

Step 5: Place spaghetti in medium dish then put cooked meatballs with sauce over spaghetti.

Step 6: Best served hot.

Add a little twist to your meatballs. Tomato sauce is traditionally used when preparing meatballs, but this sweet and sour sauce below is highly recommended. Hope you enjoy.



¼ cup vinegar
½ cup brown sugar
2 tsp soy sauce
3 tbsp ketchup
2 tsp cornstarch
¼ cup water


Step 1: Mix cornstarch in water, then combine all the ingredients into a medium pot.

Step 2: Bring to a boil and then reduce flame. Let simmer for 6-8 minutes.

Step 3: Add meatballs and let simmer.
